DEBUNKING MYTHS OF ISRAEL/PALESTINE

Zionism and the Israeli state have constructed fallacies about the Israel-Palestine conflict to justify ethnic cleansing and oppression. Lets debunk myths and clarify historical truths regarding the origins and nature of the conflict.

Myth #1: The Conflict is Religious

• Myth: The conflict is a centuries-old religious war between Jews and Palestinian Arabs.

• Truth: It is a settler-colonial conflict that began in the early 20th century, rooted in Zionism's response to European anti-Semitism, and the desire to establish a Jewish homeland. The Jewish State of Irael was created by stealing land from the palestinians. This was done with approval from the British colonial Empire who partly controled the territory. When the israelis quadrons reached palestine in 1948 they perpetrated what is called the Nakba or the Catastrophy. Displacing or Killing 750,000 of innocent Palestinians civilians. Many towns in Israel today were built upon mass graves of palestinians, the most notable one, Tel Aviv, the capital.

Myth #2: Israel is Not a Colonial Settler State

• Myth: Israel is not a settler-colonial state.

• Truth: Israel exhibits classic features of settler colonialism, including the displacement and replacement of the indigenous Palestinian population through both land purchases and forced expulsions.

Myth #3: Israel is the Plucky David Fighting the Arab Goliath

• Myth: Israel’s survival in 1948 and 1967 was a miraculous David vs. Goliath scenario against overwhelming Arab forces.

• Truth: Israel had superior military resources and was not under imminent threat. The 1967 Six Day War was an act of territorial expansion rather than self-defense.

Myth #4: Israel is the Only Democracy in the Middle East

• Myth: Israel is a full democracy for all its citizens.

• Truth: Israel is an ethnocratic state with discriminatory laws against Palestinians, including those living within Israel and in occupied territories.

Myth #5: Israel is Not an Apartheid State

• Myth: Israel does not practice apartheid.

• Truth: Israel’s policies towards Palestinians, including restrictions and privileges based on ethnicity, fit the definition of apartheid as per international conventions. This includes systemic discrimination and segregation against Palestinians.

The Zionist Hasbara

While the Israeli propaganda machine, often referred to as 'Hasbara,' has been disseminating lies about alleged rapes committed by Hamas on October 7th, it has subjected Palestinians to decades of torture, justifying these war crimes as necessary for their defense. Without knowledge we are completely hopeless. Most people have no clue what is happening in the world today, but with social media we are witnessing the first livestreamed genocide of history. Once we see, we can’t unsee, and that is a good thing. Knowledge will give you defenses against government bigotry and hypocrisy. No longer will they be able to lie to you because your eyes will be open. Hopefully your heart as well.

The BDS movement

• B for Boycott: This involves refusing to purchase products from Israeli companies or those that support Israeli policies. Example: The campaign encourages people to boycott Israeli-made goods like SodaStream, a company that was criticized for operating in settlements in the West Bank.

• D for Divest: This means pulling investments from companies that support Israeli policies or are involved in the occupation. Example: Some universities and pension funds have chosen to divest from companies like Caterpillar, which provides bulldozers used in demolishing Palestinian homes.

• S for Sanction: This involves urging governments to impose measures against Israel to pressure it to change its policies. Example: Advocates push for governments to implement trade restrictions or arms embargoes on Israel, similar to the sanctions previously imposed on South Africa during apartheid.

LIBERAL HYPOCRISY ON DISPLAY

Liberal Zionists often present themselves as advocates for peace and human rights while simultaneously endorsing policies that exacerbate the suffering of Palestinians, particularly in Gaza. This duality highlights a profound hypocrisy: they champion democratic values and social justice yet support a state that has been criticized for its systematic violations of these principles. In Gaza, where blockades and military actions have led to dire humanitarian crises, Liberal Zionists' rhetoric frequently falls short of addressing the realities on the ground. Their calls for coexistence are undermined by their complicity in a status quo that perpetuates violence and oppression. While they may advocate for a two-state solution, their actions often align with the interests of hardline policies that deny Palestinians basic rights. This contradiction reveals a troubling trend where the language of liberalism is used to mask complicity in acts that contradict the very values they profess to uphold. As a result, their political maneuvering not only perpetuates suffering but also undermines genuine efforts for peace, making Liberal Zionists among the most hypocritical figures in contemporary politics. The stark contrast between their stated ideals and the realities of their actions demands scrutiny and accountability.
